A "How To" Guide for the WCT Reader

What are the Differences in the Internet Version?

There is no Home page to display all options.
All implementations of the Internet version work with links to Advanced Search, Switch Selection, and Preferences. What else is there depends on the individual site. For example, the Words Close Together site offers a link to the "How To" Guide. But without a Home page, there are no buttons for first time user, help, table of contents, license agreement required, view work saved in earlier session, or program exit.
Switching ebooks is different.
An ebook is already selected when you come to the site, either one established by the web site, or one set by a cookie on your computer which returns you to the ebook that you had open last time. There is a Switch Selection link under the search box, but that takes you, not to a conventional browse and select dialog, but to a web page with links to the ebooks that are available at that site.
Returning to past work is limited to the normal Internet browser method.
The Internet version uses the back and forward buttons to navigate through past work. There is no History button. The Internet version does not show search terms typed into the text box. The "Advanced Search" page for specifying a search has everything set back to default values and all text boxes blank. However, if you click on the Expand button in search results, the Internet version of the program will show you the desired result in detail. In summary, the personal computer WCT Reader has fuller features and nicely enhanced methods of returning to your past work.
There are fewer preferences.
The Internet version sets preferences only for count of results per page, count of intervening words, and relevance versus bookshelf order.
But, the important features are the same.
The Table of Contents has exactly the same features; it is slightly slower since Internet communication is needed. Simple search, adding power to simple searches, and advanced searches are essentially the same as in the "How To" Guide descriptions of the personal computer version.
