A "How To" Guide for the WCT Reader

How Can I Find and Open Project Gutenberg Ebooks?

What can I do with the "Index Lite by Author and Title"?
The standard sample download and the DVD both include an Index Lite by Author and Title of 14,000 PG E-Texts. Open it as any other ebook. Enter words from the title and/or the author name in the search box, then click on the Search button. Click on the Expand button to the left of a summary that interests you.

For example, if you are unsure where to find the Bible (with its over 40 authors), simply input bible in the search box and click on Search. Among the search results are Screen 1:

and Screen 2:

If we expand hit # 15, we get Screen 3:

We learn that Project Gutenberg has chosen to file its etext # 30, the King James Bible, under author "Various" and title "New eBook of Bible (KJV)". Whether looking in the Project Gutenberg Words Close Together DVD or at downloadable e-texts at www.WordsCloseTogether.com, you would select the letter "V", the name "Various" within the alphabetic arrangement of authors under "V". Under each author, books are in alphabetic order by title, so cruise down to "New eBook of Bible". If downloading, check it. If copying it from a DVD, highlight, drag, and drop. If using it from your hard disk with all 14,000 books arranged as on the DVD, open the Bible by double clicking on it.
What can I do with the full "Index by Author and Title"?
The full index is similar to the lite index, but has one significant difference. If you have copied the entire DVD contents onto your hard disk on drive C under directory Ebooks, then the titles act as links. Click on a title within the index, and the WCT Reader opens to that book.

Suppose you open the full index and want to find a title -- something to do with wind and willows. Enter the two words in a simple search. The results page may look like Screen 4:

Expand the second result to get Screen 5:

There are five titles by Kenneth Grahame. Click once on The Wind in the Willows and the WCT Reader switches you directly into that ebook. [Editor's note to the incautious: If you have not copied all the books to C:\Ebooks, and if you still insist on clicking a title, you will get what Sesame Street's Grover calls a mess. You are on your own!]
